New Delhi — CPM Polit Bureau member and senior leader M.A. Baby has taken strong exception to the global political posture adopted by U.S. President Donald Trump, asserting that Trump is operating not merely as the President of the United States, but as though he is the president of the world.
Speaking to the media in New Delhi, Baby said, “Trump is not acting like the President of the United States alone, but rather as if he holds a mandate over the entire world. The party will closely monitor developments and adopt a considered stance based on how the situation unfolds.”
He further added that by the time the matter is brought before the party's Central Committee, greater clarity is expected regarding the international scenario and Trump’s policy trajectory.
Referring to discussions held within the CPM Polit Bureau, Baby stated that the current political climate, both within India and globally, was thoroughly evaluated. He drew attention to the gravity of the post-terror attack situation and emphasized the need for a unified national response against terrorism.
“India has shown remarkable unity in the face of terrorist aggression. However, it is equally important to remain vigilant against attempts to exploit such incidents to stoke communal tensions,” he cautioned.
He also highlighted the exemplary resilience demonstrated by the people of Jammu and Kashmir, noting, “The people of Jammu and Kashmir have proved that India can stand united. We must strive to preserve and strengthen this spirit of unity across the country.”
M.A. Baby reiterated that the CPM will remain watchful of both global power dynamics and internal social cohesion, advocating for policies that promote national integrity and international equity.
