The FSAI today announced that ten closure orders and five prohibition orders were issued to Irish food businesses in May for food safety breaches. The closure orders were issued by Environmental Health Officers from the Health Service Executive (HSE) and officers from the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI).

A food safety inspector issued a closure order on May 24 after determining that "there is or is likely to be a serious and immediate danger to public health at, within, or outside the premises in question."
According to the inspector's safety report, the unregistered establishment was located in a shed building that was "divided in two by a head-high fabric curtain, where the other half of the shed was occupied by a functioning car workshop".
It was found that "the premises and equipment were not clean, maintained in good repair and condition and were susceptible to contamination", while "dust, dead insects, dirt and grime were evident in food handling areas".
