According to the DGP, preliminary investigations have revealed that the accused was in direct contact with Pakistan’s ISI as well as with Gopal Singh Chawla, a known pro-Khalistan figure based in Pakistan. Singh allegedly shared classified operational details, including troop deployments and strategic positions during the high-intensity four-day Operation Sindoor conducted by the Indian armed forces in May.
Breach of National Security
DGP Yadav described the information leak as a serious breach of national security. “The arrested accused had been in contact with Pakistan’s ISI and was actively providing them with classified inputs regarding Indian Army movements during Operation Sindoor,” he said.
Authorities have confirmed that digital evidence is being examined, and further arrests or links to espionage networks are being explored as part of an ongoing investigation.
Broader Security Implications
The arrest comes at a time when the Opposition is demanding a special parliamentary session to discuss the aftermath of Operation Sindoor, including issues related to intelligence, defence operations, and strategic preparedness.
Punjab Police have reiterated their commitment to safeguarding national interests and maintaining vigilance against external threats and internal collaborators.
Further details are expected as the investigation progresses under the Official Secrets Act and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
