PM Modi Condemns Terrorism, Strengthens Strategic Ties with Croatia

India and Croatia to Deepen Cooperation in Defence, Trade, and Technology in PM Modi’s Third Term

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has strongly condemned terrorism as a threat to global peace and expressed heartfelt gratitude to Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković for Croatia’s solidarity with India in the aftermath of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

“Terrorism is an enemy of humanity,” PM Modi said during a joint statement following bilateral talks. “I thank Prime Minister Plenković and the people of Croatia for their support after the cowardly attack in Pahalgam.”

In a significant diplomatic development, Prime Minister Modi announced that India and Croatia have agreed to triple the pace of bilateral engagement during his government’s third term. Key areas of focus will include defence cooperation, trade expansion, and the creation of robust, resilient supply chains.

As part of this strategic push, both nations will develop a comprehensive Defence Cooperation Plan, which will encompass joint training programs, military exchanges, and collaboration in defence manufacturing. “This plan will guide our long-term defence cooperation,” Modi said, emphasizing the shared vision for security and stability.

Highlighting the growing synergy between the two economies, PM Modi noted that India and Croatia have identified key complementary sectors such as pharmaceuticals, agriculture, information technology, clean energy, and digital innovation. “We will advance cooperation in these vital areas to build sustainable, future-ready partnerships,” he said, positioning his third term as a new chapter in India–Croatia relations.

The Indian Prime Minister also encouraged Croatian companies to tap into India’s deep talent pool in IT and digital services. He underlined opportunities for mutual growth in tourism and cultural exchange, noting Croatia’s strong interest in Indian culture and Yoga.

“I have personally witnessed the enthusiasm for Yoga in Croatia,” he added. “With International Yoga Day on June 21, I am confident that the people of Croatia will join the celebrations with great zeal.”

The visit marks a milestone in India’s growing engagement with Central Europe, as both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to democratic values, peace, and a rules-based international order.
