Ireland Celebrates Its Largest-Ever Lottery Win as Ticket Confirmed to Be Sold in Munster Region
The hunt is on for Ireland’s newest multimillionaire after the National Lottery confirmed that Tuesday’s staggering €250 million EuroMillions jackpot has been won by an Irish player.
Following four consecutive draws with the top prize capped at the €250 million maximum, the life-changing sum was finally claimed in Tuesday night’s draw by one fortunate ticket holder—now officially the biggest lottery winner in Irish history. The prize surpasses the previous national record of €175.4 million, won by a family syndicate in The Naul, County Dublin, in 2019.
In a statement issued earlier today, the National Lottery confirmed that the winning ticket was purchased in-store, not online, narrowing the search to a physical retail outlet. It has since been revealed that the ticket was bought in the Munster region, with the exact location of the store expected to be disclosed later this week.
Players in Munster are being urged to carefully check their tickets from Tuesday’s draw, as one of them may now hold a €250 million fortune. Emma Monaghan, spokesperson for the National Lottery, called it an unforgettable moment for the game and its Irish participants.
“What a night for our EuroMillions players,” she said. “Not only did we see 92,000 players in Ireland win prizes—including our top prize in EuroMillions Plus—but we also witnessed a historic jackpot win by an Irish player. We’re looking forward to sharing more details about the win in the coming days.”
The National Lottery has reminded all players that prizes must be claimed within 90 days of the draw date. Anyone who believes they may be holding the winning ticket is advised to sign the back of it immediately and contact the National Lottery without delay at 1800 666 222 or via email at claims@lottery.ie.
As anticipation builds across Munster and the rest of the country, all eyes remain on who will step forward to claim one of the biggest prizes in European lottery history.
