Dublin: An Indian in Ireland was attacked yesterday as well.
Laxman suffered serious injuries to his head and forehead in the attack carried out by three individuals. Laxman Das has been admitted to St. Vincent's University Hospital for treatment and is recovering.
He was also robbed of his credit card, debit card, passport, 2,600 euros, and two mobile phones. Reports indicate that he is in shock and in great pain.
Although the Gardaí who arrived at the scene after the attack took official action, the incident has caused concern among the Indian community in Ireland. While the Garda investigation is ongoing, local leaders point out that a greater police presence and stronger measures are needed to prevent such incidents.
In the wake of the increasing attacks, the Desi Community Against Racism will be holding a protest in front of the Department of the Taoiseach building in Dublin on August 13th at 1PM to raise its voice against racism. We have appealed to everyone to participate in this protest and stand united against racist attacks.
In recent days, attacks on people of Indian origin, including young children, have increased in Dublin and other counties. Some are not speaking out, while others are afraid to come out.
In this situation, the Indian Embassy in Ireland is not only issuing a cautionary advisory to Indian citizens, but the local community is demanding more government intervention for a safe life.
