BMW Crash in Delhi: Wife of Deceased Finance Ministry Official Alleges Negligence in FIR

New Delhi, September 15 — The wife of Navjot Singh, a senior Finance Ministry official who died in Sunday’s BMW crash near Delhi Cantonment metro station, has alleged that the woman driving the car deliberately avoided taking her injured husband to the nearest hospital despite her repeated pleas.

In her FIR, Singh’s wife stated: “I repeatedly requested the lady (accused) to take my husband to the nearest hospital. He needed immediate first aid. But she deliberately did not take him there and instead drove us to a faraway hospital known to them. My husband had to wait too long on a stretcher there.”

Police said the collision occurred around 1:30 p.m. when multiple calls were received about a traffic jam. Officers arriving at the scene found the BMW overturned and the motorcycle near the divider. Eyewitnesses reported that the luxury car, driven by a woman identified as Gaganpreet, had rammed into the motorcycle from behind. Navjot Singh was riding the bike with his wife as pillion.

Instead of being taken to the nearest hospital, the injured couple was transported by the car’s occupants to Nuelife Hospital in GTB Nagar — nearly 17 km away. Doctors later declared Singh dead, while his wife remains under treatment.

Gaganpreet and her husband, residents of Gurugram who were also injured in the crash, are admitted to the same hospital. Police confirmed her arrest but noted that statements from both occupants are pending due to their medical condition.

Navjot Singh’s son, Navnoor Singh, echoed his mother’s allegations, saying his father’s life might have been saved had he been taken to a nearby facility. “The accident happened around 1:30 p.m. A woman driving a BMW hit my parents’ motorcycle. But they were taken to a hospital 20 km away, which lacked adequate facilities. My father was declared dead there. Doctors said that immediate death after such an accident is very rare,” he told ANI.

A case has been registered, and a detailed investigation is underway. A crime team and forensic experts have examined the crash site, and both vehicles have been seized, according to senior police officials.
