A day after police gunned down the two shooters who had opened fire outside actor Disha Patani’s residence in Bareilly, her father, Jagdish Patani, expressed his gratitude to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for ensuring swift action and providing full security to the family.
Speaking exclusively to CNN-News18, Jagdish Patani said, “Thanks to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, my family received protection. Since the incident, the Chief Minister has continuously supported and consoled me and my family.”
A retired police officer himself, Patani praised the swift action taken by the security forces. “It was not easy to face such a big gang. The state government ensured my family’s safety immediately after the firing incident. We have been given complete security, and I can say it was a major task for the police,” he added.
The two assailants—identified as Ravinder from Rohtak and Arun from Sonepat, both linked to the Rohit Godara and Goldy Brar gangs—were killed in an encounter in Ghaziabad’s Tronica City on Wednesday evening. The operation was jointly conducted by the Delhi Police Special Cell and the Special Task Forces of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
The suspects had fired outside Patani’s house in the early hours of September 12. Shortly after, a social media account allegedly linked to associates of gangster Goldy Brar claimed responsibility for the attack.
Acting on intelligence inputs and technical surveillance, a team led by ACP Dharmender Singh and SI Manjeet Singh traced the duo’s movements. By evening, their exact location was confirmed, and when police intercepted them near Tronica City at around 7:20 pm, the suspects opened fire. This led to a brief but intense exchange of gunfire.
Both men sustained critical injuries—Ravinder was shot in the chest, while Arun suffered gunshot wounds to the neck and chest. They later succumbed during treatment. Four police personnel were also injured in the encounter.
