In a moving gesture following India’s Asia Cup 2025 triumph over Pakistan, captain Suryakumar Yadav announced that he would donate his entire match fee from the tournament to the Indian Armed Forces and to the families of those killed in the Pahalgam terror attack.
“At this tournament’s conclusion, I wish to personally contribute my full match fee to the Indian Army,” Yadav told reporters at the post-match press conference in Dubai. He later reiterated the pledge on his official X account, writing:
“I have decided to donate my match fee from this tournament to support our armed forces and the families of those who lost their lives in the Pahalgam terror attack. You will always remain in my heart.”
Yadav also expressed dismay over the unprecedented trophy controversy, remarking that in all his years playing cricket, he had never seen a championship-winning side denied the chance to lift the cup.
On the field, it was Tilak Varma’s superb half-century, supported by vital contributions from Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube, that propelled India to its ninth Asia Cup title. In a gripping final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, India overcame Pakistan by five wickets to seal the victory.
