Thane, Maharashtra: A 23-year-old woman's tragic suicide during a video call with her boyfriend has led to his detention by police in Thane, Maharashtra. The incident occurred in Titwala on Thursday. The woman's family has accused him of harassment, blackmail, and cheating.
The two met on Instagram and later began a relationship. According to her family, the boyfriend took her jewelry on various pretexts. When she asked for it back, he allegedly blackmailed her, threatening to release private videos. Unable to bear the harassment, she took her own life by hanging herself at home. The family later told police they found her on a video call with her boyfriend at the time of the incident.
Police sources say the family alleges he has cheated many other young women in a similar manner. The woman was cremated without an autopsy, and no FIR has been filed as of yet. An investigation is ongoing, according to officials at the Titwala police station.
