Muzaffarpur, Bihar — October 30: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav during a campaign rally in Muzaffarpur, branding them the “princes of corruption” and accusing them of misleading the public with false promises.
Addressing a large gathering, the Prime Minister said the alliance between the Congress and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) was an “unnatural partnership,” comparing it to “oil and water that cannot stay in the same glass.”
“In this election, the real news is not the abuses hurled at me, but the internal conflicts brewing within the RJD and Congress,” Modi remarked. “Yesterday, both so-called ‘Yuvrajs’ tried to show that there is no rift between them, but what binds them is not ideology — it is their greed for power.”
Continuing his attack, the Prime Minister said, “They have opened a shop of false promises. One is the prince of the country’s most corrupt family, and the other is the prince of Bihar’s most corrupt family. Both are out on bail in scams worth thousands of crores.”
Modi accused the two opposition leaders of being obsessed with him, saying, “They have been abusing me continuously because they cannot digest the fact that someone from a poor and backward family has reached this position. But what else can we expect? Those who are ‘Naamdaar’ will naturally look down upon a ‘Kaamdar’.”
The Prime Minister also took aim at the Congress-RJD alliance’s record in governance, alleging that during their rule, even national honours and awards were reserved for those who “bowed before their political masters.”
“Can such people ever uplift the poor?” he asked, adding, “Even in the name of social justice, they have only betrayed the people. These are the same forces that have insulted Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, the icon of social reform and equality.”
Reiterating his government’s commitment to Ambedkar’s ideals, Modi said, “While the nation reveres Babasaheb Ambedkar, these leaders have trampled upon his legacy. Our government draws strength and inspiration from his vision for an inclusive and empowered India.”
Highlighting the government’s achievements, the Prime Minister cited the success of digital initiatives such as the BHIM app, named after Dr. Ambedkar, which enables citizens to send and receive money seamlessly through mobile phones.
The rally marked the formal launch of the NDA’s campaign for the Bihar Assembly elections, with Modi having addressed similar gatherings in Samastipur and Begusarai earlier this week.
The Bihar Assembly elections will be conducted in two phases on November 6 and 11, with the results scheduled to be announced on November 14.
