As the investigation deepens into the death of a 26-year-old doctor from Maharashtra who accused a police officer of repeated sexual assault, disturbing new details have come to light.
According to reports, the young doctor, who served as a medical officer at the Phaltan sub-district hospital in Satara district, left behind a four-page suicide note detailing the harassment and coercion she allegedly endured. The note also mentions a Member of Parliament (MP) whom she accused of indirectly threatening her after she refused to issue a false medical certificate.
The letter reveals that she was under sustained pressure from police officials to issue fraudulent fitness certificates for accused individuals who were never medically examined. When she resisted, she reportedly faced harassment from Sub-Inspector Gopal Badne and others. On her palm, she had written that she was raped four times by Badne and subjected to mental and physical abuse for over five months.
The doctor, who had been serving at the hospital for nearly two years, was just one month away from completing her mandatory rural service bond and planned to pursue postgraduate studies.
