Pakistan Reignites Cross-Border Tensions; Indian Army on High Alert

New Delhi: Pakistan appears to be once again mobilising both its army and militant groups across the Line of Control (LoC), raising serious security concerns in the region. Intelligence sources suggest that Islamabad may be attempting to divert domestic and international attention from growing internal unrest and its escalating border conflict with Afghanistan by provoking a major incident along the LoC.

However, the Indian Army remains fully prepared to counter any possible escalation.

Setback in Afghanistan Spurs Pakistan’s Aggression

Pakistan is currently engaged in a direct military confrontation with Afghanistan, where its forces have suffered significant setbacks against Taliban fighters. Although a ceasefire has been announced, experts warn that its longevity remains uncertain.

According to defense observers, Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, appears to be resorting once again to the same time-tested yet destabilising strategies long employed by the Pakistani military establishment. Reports indicate that militant and military activities across the LoC have increased noticeably in recent weeks — a pattern historically linked to covert operations targeting India.

Recognising these ominous signs, the Indian Army has heightened its vigilance and initiated extensive countermeasures, signalling its readiness to neutralise any hostile attempts emanating from across the border.

Militant Launch Pads Revived Along the LoC

According to a recent India Today report, following Operation Sindoor, several terrorist launch pads operated by groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba across the LoC had been largely abandoned. However, multiple intelligence agencies now confirm renewed activity in these Pakistani militant camps.

Over the past six weeks, there has been a sudden spike in infiltration-related movements, with reports suggesting that nearly 120 heavily armed terrorists have regrouped and are preparing to infiltrate Jammu and Kashmir before the onset of heavy snowfall.

Pakistan Army–Militant Nexus Raises Alarm

Even as Pakistan’s military remains embroiled in operations along the Afghan frontier, its growing activity near the LoC reflects a deliberate strategic shift under Munir’s leadership. Reports indicate a substantial deployment of Pakistani troops — including infantry, mechanised units, and heavy artillery — along forward positions bordering India.

Given the well-documented cooperation between Pakistan’s army and militant outfits, Indian defense forces have intensified surveillance and anti-infiltration operations. The Army has activated advanced monitoring systems, stepped up ground patrols, and reinforced defensive posts along the LoC.

Indian officials remain cautious, aware that Pakistan has often used cross-border skirmishes as a means to divert public attention or execute subversive operations in Jammu and Kashmir. Consequently, the Indian Army is taking no chances this time.

“We Will Respond Strongly if Provoked” – Lt Gen Katyar

In a stern message, Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katyar, Commander of the Indian Army’s Western Command, stated:

“If Pakistan violates the ceasefire agreement, we will respond — and respond more strongly than before. Pakistan’s mindset has not changed. It lacks the capability for a full-scale war, but it continues to adopt the policy of inflicting ‘a thousand cuts’ on India. We dealt a heavy blow to them during Operation Sindoor, yet they may strike again — and we must be prepared for that.”
