Bengaluru, October 29, 2025: A man suspected to be an illegal migrant from Bangladesh was arrested for allegedly vandalizing a temple in Devarabisanahalli village, Bengaluru. The incident, which occurred earlier this week, sparked outrage among locals and has since gone viral on social media.
According to eyewitness accounts, the accused entered the temple premises and began pelting stones at the walls before allegedly kicking the deity’s idol with his slippers. Disturbed by his actions, locals quickly intervened, apprehended the man, and restrained him until police arrived at the scene.
CCTV footage capturing the entire episode has been widely circulated online, showing the man walking erratically toward the temple before launching stones at the structure. Another video shows angry villagers confronting and tying up the suspect after detaining him.

The video, shared by social media user @sanatan_kannada, was captioned:
“A person claiming to be from Bangladesh has pelted stones at the temple in Devarabisanahalli village, Bengaluru, and kicked the deity's idol with slippers. The public caught the person, thrashed him, and tied him up.”
The post further called for coordinated action by both the central and state governments to identify and deport illegal migrants residing in the country.
Police Action and Investigation
Responding to the viral footage, the Bengaluru Police confirmed that a case has been registered at the Marathahalli Police Station under Crime No. 605/2025. The accused has been taken into custody, and an investigation is underway.
The police have yet to officially confirm the man’s nationality, and authorities are verifying his identity and immigration status.
