United Nations, October 7: India delivered a sharp rebuttal to Pakistan at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Tuesday, condemning it as a nation that “bombs its own people” and engages in “systematic genocide.”
Speaking during the Open Debate on Women, Peace, and Security, India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, denounced Pakistan’s repeated attempts to malign India, particularly over Jammu and Kashmir. He described Pakistan’s statements as a “delusional tirade” intended to divert global attention through “misdirection and hyperbole.”
“Every year, we are unfortunately fated to listen to the delusional tirade of Pakistan against my country, especially on Jammu and Kashmir—the Indian territory they covet,” Ambassador Harish said. “A country that bombs its own people and conducts systematic genocide can only attempt to distract the world with misdirection and hyperbole. Our pioneering record on the Women, Peace, and Security agenda remains unblemished.”
The envoy reminded the Council of Pakistan’s Operation Searchlight in 1971, which involved a brutal military campaign marked by widespread atrocities, including the genocidal mass rape of over 400,000 women by its own army. “The world sees through Pakistan’s propaganda,” Harish asserted.
India’s response came after Saima Saleem, Counsellor at Pakistan’s Permanent Mission to the UN, alleged that Kashmiri women had “endured sexual violence for decades under Indian occupation.”
This is not the first time India has called out Pakistan’s hypocrisy at global forums. Just last week, New Delhi described Pakistan as a nation with “one of the world’s worst human rights records” and reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir was, is, and shall forever remain an integral part of India.
