A shocking case has emerged from Bulandshahr, where a woman who was previously a victim of gang rape has accused a police officer of illegally detaining her husband, extorting money, and raping her multiple times under coercion.
The survivor alleges that the officer detained her husband at the police station and demanded ₹50,000 as a bribe for his release. Despite receiving the money, the officer allegedly continued to exert pressure on her and raped her five times over two days. The incident has triggered major outrage within the police department.
The woman submitted a formal complaint against the inspector, posted in Khurja city, at the SSP office on Saturday. She stated that she and her husband were employed at a private company, where three co-workers had earlier abducted her, drugged her, and gang-raped her. She further alleges that the perpetrators forced her to convert to Islam during the assault.
At the time of the gang rape incident, she had gone missing, prompting her husband to file a missing person report. When she returned home four days later, the investigating officer allegedly visited their residence and accused her husband of failing to inform the police about her return.
According to the complaint, the officer then demanded ₹50,000 for her husband’s release. Even after the bribe was paid, the inspector allegedly continued to harass her, took her to a hotel, and raped her five times within two days. The survivor says she repeatedly appealed to senior police officials for justice, but no action has been taken so far.
Three days ago, when she attempted to meet the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) during an inspection visit, she was allegedly threatened and chased away by police personnel. She further claims that the accused inspector threatened to implicate both her and her husband in false criminal cases if she pursued the matter.
The allegations have raised serious concerns about police misconduct and accountability, intensifying pressure on the authorities to launch an impartial and thorough investigation.
