Pushkar, Rajasthan – The iconic bull Anmol, valued at ₹21 crore and widely regarded as one of India’s most expensive and admired livestock, died after a sudden deterioration in health during the famous Pushkar Fair. The news has cast a shadow over the annual event, which attracts thousands of visitors from across the country and abroad.
The massive bull, weighing over 1,200 kilograms, was one of the star attractions of this year’s fair. Visitors were drawn to its majestic physique and impressive presence, which had made Anmol a sensation on social media and among livestock enthusiasts. Several sponsors and advertising companies had shown interest in featuring the prized bull due to its exceptional size and popularity.
According to reports, Anmol was transported to Pushkar under special arrangements, reflecting the extraordinary care and value placed on the animal. However, veterinarians confirmed that the bull’s excessive body weight and the intense physical strain it endured had taken a toll on its health. Despite efforts by a team of animal doctors, Anmol could not be revived.
Behind Anmol’s formidable size was an elaborate and costly feeding regimen. His daily diet reportedly included dry fruits, 20 eggs, and vitamin-enriched feed, complemented by almond oil massages — a routine intended to enhance muscle tone and physical appeal. Over time, however, this unnatural level of maintenance and the frequent use of supplements and hormone-based feed are believed to have contributed to his declining health.

The Haryana-born bull had previously gone viral on social media, where videos showcased his luxurious lifestyle and record valuation. As one post highlighted:
“Meet Anmol, a buffalo from Haryana worth ₹23 crore introduced at the Pushkar Fair. Weighing 1,500 kg, this giant is pampered with dry fruits and 20 eggs daily, along with regular almond oil massages.”
The incident has sparked widespread outrage among animal welfare activists and the public alike. Many have criticized the growing commercialization of animal exhibitions and livestock fairs, where profit motives and aesthetic competition often outweigh considerations of animal health and welfare.
Authorities from the Animal Husbandry Department arrived at the site only after the incident was reported, prompting further criticism of delayed response and inadequate oversight.
For years, Anmol symbolized the prestige and pride associated with India’s elite livestock trade — but his untimely death has now become a grim reminder of the darker side of animal showmanship and commercial breeding practices.
The tragedy has reignited debate over the ethics of treating living animals as luxury assets, with many calling for stricter monitoring, veterinary supervision, and ethical guidelines at national livestock fairs.
