Snowfall Predicted for Ireland as Winter Weather Looms

Dublin, Ireland – March 2, 2024: A blanket of snow adorned Dublin’s landscape earlier this year, with Gaelic football goalposts standing stark against a wintry backdrop. Now, weather models suggest that another cold snap may be on the horizon, potentially bringing snowfall to parts of Ireland in mid-November.

According to WX Charts, snow could arrive across sections of the north, west, and midlands on November 15th and 16th, marking an early arrival of winter weather. While the forecast remains subject to change, projections indicate that most regions may experience wintry rainfall, with some areas expecting 1–3 cm of snow, and isolated spots possibly reaching up to 9 cm.

WX Charts’ color-coded forecast shows white zones for snow, purple for snow depth, and blue for rainfall, offering a visual guide for those monitoring the approaching system.

Meanwhile, Met Éireann’s long-range outlook paints a slightly different picture. The national forecaster expects changeable but milder-than-average conditions as the year draws to a close. Their seasonal forecast for September–October–November (SON) predicts temperatures 0.5°C to 1°C above average, with rainfall varying between wetter and drier spells. October, in particular, may see extended dry periods.

For the week of November 15th, Met Éireann notes a continuation of unsettled, low-pressure conditions, with average temperatures and above-average rainfall anticipated across much of the country.

Weekend Forecast for Dublin:

  • Friday: Cloudy and dull with periods of rain, drizzle, or mist during the morning, turning more persistent through the day. Temperatures will range between 12°C and 14°C, accompanied by moderate southeast winds.

  • Friday Night: Lingering rain early in the evening, clearing by midnight to leave dry but misty conditions. Overnight lows will drop to 4°C–9°C, with light southerly or variable breezes.

As Ireland prepares for another turn in its famously unpredictable weather, residents are advised to stay alert for updates — and perhaps keep a camera ready for the season’s first snowflakes.
