A deeply unsettling incident from Dubai has drawn widespread attention after dash-cam footage captured a Kenyan taxi driver being violently assaulted by a passenger.
Kenyan Expat Brutally Assaulted in Dubai Taxi
Brian Kiplimo, a Kenyan national who had been in the UAE for just two months in search of better opportunities, was attacked during an early-morning ride at around 6 a.m. on November 8. According to reports, the confrontation began after Brian rejected the passenger’s alleged sexual advances.
Initially, the passenger sat in the back seat like any other client. However, after the ride details were confirmed, he repositioned himself directly behind Brian, marking the beginning of a troubling turn of events. A Kenyan driver in Dubai. Dash-Cam Footage Shows Chilling Moments
Video from Brian’s dash cam captures the passenger placing his hand around Brian’s chest and touching him inappropriately. When Brian attempted to push him away, the passenger escalated the aggression, grabbing Brian by the neck and choking him while the vehicle was still in motion.
In the footage, Brian can be heard shouting for help, while the assailant repeatedly commands him to “shut up” and even threatens him with the chilling question: “You want to die?”
Brian eventually managed to free himself and flee from the vehicle. The video shows the passenger then sliding into the driver’s seat after Brian escaped.
Public Outcry and Calls for Action
The footage sparked outrage across social media, with users demanding swift justice. One viewer wrote, “You can see the fear in his eyes, and knowing you are in a foreign country with no one to protect you makes it even more terrifying.” Another comment blamed authorities abroad for allowing such incidents to happen unchecked.
Family Seeks Government Intervention
Brian’s family has also spoken publicly, revealing that he sustained injuries during the assault and was forced to pay his own medical expenses. They further allege that his employer pressured him to resume work almost immediately after the attack.
The family is now urging Kenya’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to intervene and ensure Brian receives the support and protection he needs.
