New Delhi, November 1, 2025 — The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a fresh offensive against former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of using the Punjab government’s resources to construct a lavish two-acre mansion in Chandigarh, which the party has mockingly dubbed “Sheesh Mahal 2.0.”
The controversy erupted after former Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chairperson Swati Maliwal alleged that Kejriwal had been allotted a “luxurious seven-star government mansion” in Chandigarh’s Sector 2 under the Chief Minister’s quota.

Taking to X, the BJP wrote, “Sheesh Mahal 2.0 — after building a ₹52 crore palace in Delhi, Kejriwal will now reside in a 7-star government mansion spanning two acres in Chandigarh. The so-called ‘aam aadmi’ continues to enjoy royal luxuries while pretending to be a common man.”
The BJP further claimed that the AAP chief has been allotted the property from the Chief Minister’s quota despite holding no ministerial or legislative post, remarking, “Kejriwal is neither a minister nor an MLA, yet his attachment to opulence, regal comforts, and luxury remains unbroken.” The party also shared a satellite image of the alleged bungalow, referring to Kejriwal as the “Super CM.”
AAP Dismisses Allegations, Calls Them ‘Fake’
Responding to the BJP’s claims, the Aam Aadmi Party strongly refuted the accusations, clarifying that the Chandigarh property is not a personal residence but the Chief Minister’s official camp office.
“Ever since the Prime Minister’s fake Yamuna story was exposed, the BJP seems to have lost its cool. In frustration, they are spreading fake news — fake Yamuna, fake rainfall data, fake pollution figures, and now fake 7-star claims,” AAP said on X.
The party also questioned the credibility of the BJP’s allegations, stating, “If Kejriwal ji has indeed been allotted a house, where is the allotment letter? The Chandigarh administration is under BJP’s control — only they can build or allot government properties. By circulating a photo of the CM’s camp office, the BJP is attempting to mislead the public.”
Maliwal’s Remarks Rekindle ‘Sheesh Mahal’ Controversy
Earlier, Swati Maliwal had taken to X to claim that Kejriwal’s “new mansion in Chandigarh” was an even grander version of his controversial Delhi residence. She alleged that Kejriwal had been allotted the two-acre bungalow under the Chief Minister’s quota.
She further claimed that Kejriwal had recently boarded a government helicopter from his residence to Ambala, and from there, used the Punjab government’s private jet to travel to Gujarat for party-related work — alleging that “the entire Punjab government is serving one man.”
Background: The Delhi ‘Sheesh Mahal’ Case
The latest allegations have revived the controversy surrounding Kejriwal’s official residence in Delhi, dubbed “Sheesh Mahal” by the BJP. The issue first surfaced in 2024 when BJP leader Vijender Gupta filed a complaint with the Chief Vigilance Commissioner, accusing the former Chief Minister of illegally expanding his official residence at 6, Flag Staff Road.
According to Gupta’s complaint, multiple government-owned properties — including Plot Nos. 45 and 47 on Rajpur Road and bungalows 8-A and 8-B on Flag Staff Road — were merged into a sprawling 8-acre compound, allegedly violating building norms, ground coverage limits, and layout plan approvals.
The Central Public Works Department (CPWD) later confirmed several irregularities in a factual report submitted in response to the complaint. Gupta accused Kejriwal of misusing crores of taxpayers’ money on luxury amenities, claiming the expenses far exceeded reasonable limits and raised “serious concerns about corruption and misuse of public funds.”
As the political slugfest continues, both the BJP and AAP are expected to intensify their campaigns ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in key northern states, with corruption and transparency once again taking centre stage in the political narrative.
