AMETHI, Uttar Pradesh: A deeply distressing video has emerged from Amethi, Uttar Pradesh, showing a woman repeatedly striking an alleged Maulana (Islamic teacher) with a whip. The woman accused the man of sexually abusing her minor daughter.
The Maulana, identified in a subsequent complaint as Haseeb, a madrasa teacher, is seen on his knees pleading for mercy with folded hands in the widely circulated clip, which has caused significant outrage. The incident is reported to have occurred within the Jamo Police Station area, and authorities have launched an investigation to confirm the identities of those involved and the exact location.
The Incident: A Public Confrontation
The video, which surfaced on Tuesday, depicts the woman pursuing the man and assaulting him with the whip 11 times over a period of two minutes, while shouting explicit abuses.
She can be distinctly heard challenging him in the clip, stating: "You raped a 15-year-old girl by stuffing a cloth in her mouth. I have proof. Confess your crime, or I will kill you." The accused, who is seen sitting on a bed at one point, vehemently denied the allegations, crying out: "You're beating me for no fault of mine. I'm not at fault, oh Allah." The entire incident was filmed by a second woman using a mobile phone. अमेठी में एक महिला द्वारा –

Formal Complaint and Political Call for Action
The matter gained wider attention after Sarvesh Kumar Singh, the state in-charge of the Rashtriya Gau Raksha Vahini, posted the video along with a formal complaint letter on social media platforms.
The letter, addressed to the Sultanpur Superintendent of Police (SP) on December 1, formally identified the accused as Maulana Haseeb, a teacher at a madrasa in Bahmarpur Gram Panchayat. The complaint also alleged that he had previously faced a similar grievance in the Kudwar police station area.
Singh utilized the platform to call for a comprehensive character and conduct investigation of all madrasas and teachers in the district, asserting that "children studying in madrasas are not safe."
According to Vinod Singh, the Jamo Police Station in-charge, officers are currently working to identify the woman, who reportedly runs a shop in Jamo town, and the Maulana, who is believed to be an outsider to Amethi. The officer confirmed that an official First Information Report (FIR) will only be registered once the preliminary investigation and identification processes are complete.
