A young man who rented a hotel room for nearly two years has sparked widespread outrage after leaving the space in an appalling state, with a video of the aftermath going viral on social media.
According to reports, the man checked into the hotel and, over time, stopped allowing staff regular access to the room. During his stay, he reportedly ordered food and daily essentials online, rarely stepping out. When he finally vacated the room after two years, hotel staff were left stunned by what they discovered.
The room was reportedly filled with piles of garbage, leaving little space to stand or move. The bed and furniture were buried under waste, while the bathroom was in an even worse condition. Toilet paper was scattered across the floor and sink, and a strong foul odour emanated from the toilet. Man checks out from a hotel in China after two years

A video showing the deplorable condition of the room was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by an account named Defiant L’s. The footage depicts empty food containers strewn across the room, countless discarded bottles, and an unhygienic bathroom that appears completely neglected.
According to The Sun, the incident took place at a hotel in Changchun, China. Hotel authorities stated that the guest had booked the room two years earlier and spent most of his time indoors. Despite ordering meals and supplies online, he allegedly hoarded garbage inside the room and failed to maintain basic cleanliness.
Hotel management said extensive cleaning and repairs would be required before the room could be rented out again. They also claimed that the guest had stayed without paying rent for the final ten days of his occupancy.
The viral video has drawn sharp reactions online, with many netizens expressing disbelief and anger. One user wrote, “How could anyone live in such filth? Would he treat his own home this way? The condition of the room is shocking.”
The incident has once again highlighted concerns about extreme neglect, hygiene, and the challenges faced by hospitality staff when dealing with long-term guests.
