In a deeply disturbing incident from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, a man allegedly murdered his wife and then took a selfie with her body before posting it on social media. The shocking act has triggered widespread outrage and raised serious concerns about rising domestic violence cases in the region.
The crime took place under the jurisdiction of the Rathnapuri Police Station. According to police officials, the accused, Balamurugan, had long suspected that his wife, Sripriya, was involved in an extramarital relationship. This suspicion had created significant strain in their marriage and frequently led to heated arguments.
Suspicions and Separation Led to Escalation
Police revealed that Balamurugan believed Sripriya was romantically involved with another man. Shockingly, instead of fleeing, Balamurugan remained at the scene after committing the crime. He then took a selfie beside his wife’s body and posted it as his social media status, captioning it: “The punishment for betrayal is death.”
The post quickly went viral, further intensifying public anger and concern.
Police Arrest the Accused; Detailed Probe Underway
Rathnapuri Police arrived at the hostel soon after and arrested Balamurugan. Initial investigations indicate that suspicion and marital discord were the primary motives behind the crime. Police are now examining the accused’s mental state, the couple’s relationship history, and any other contributing factors.
