Panaji:A devastating fire at a popular nightclub near Goa’s Baga Beach claimed 23 lives on Friday night. Preliminary investigations suggest that the blaze was triggered by the explosion of a gas cylinder. Among the dead are four foreign nationals.
According to officials, the victims include 20 men and three women, most of whom were employees of the club. “The majority of those who died were local residents working at the restaurant,” said BJP MLA Michael Lobo.
No Licence to Operate; Probe Ordered
Investigations have revealed that the establishment did not possess the required licence to operate as a restaurant. The facility had allegedly been functioning illegally, without adhering to essential safety norms—an assessment that has shocked the state
