Discussions around the wealth and influence of Indian-origin global executives often centre on familiar names such as Satya Nadella and Sundar Pichai, both of whom lead some of the world’s most powerful technology companies. However, neither currently holds the distinction of being the wealthiest Indian-origin professional executive.
That title now belongs to Jayshree Ullal, President and Chief Executive Officer of Arista Networks, who has emerged as the richest Indian-origin professional manager globally.
Net Worth and Rankings
According to the 2025 Hurun India Rich List, Ullal recorded a significant surge in wealth, with an estimated net worth of ₹50,170 crore, placing her at the top among Indian-origin professional executives worldwide. By comparison, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, with an estimated net worth of ₹9,770 crore, ranks second, while Google CEO Sundar Pichai, with ₹5,810 crore, stands seventh on the list.
Ullal’s wealth is largely tied to her long-standing leadership at Arista Networks, where she has served as President and CEO since 2008. Under her stewardship, the cloud networking company has grown into a major player in the global technology sector.
Leadership at Arista Networks
Founded in Silicon Valley, Arista Networks specialises in high-performance networking solutions for large data centres and cloud computing environments. The company reported revenues of approximately $7 billion in 2024, reflecting a year-on-year growth of nearly 20 per cent. Ullal is estimated to hold about 3 per cent equity in the publicly listed firm, significantly contributing to her net worth.
Early Life and Education
Jayshree Ullal was born on March 27, 1961, in London, into an Indian-origin Hindu family, according to Bloomberg. She moved to India at the age of five and spent part of her early education in New Delhi, where she studied at Jesus and Mary Convent.
Her father, a physicist, worked with India’s Ministry of Education and played a role in the establishment of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). Due to his professional commitments, the family later relocated to the United States, settling in San Francisco.
Academic Background and Recognition
According to her LinkedIn profile, Ullal earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from San Francisco State University, followed by a Master of Science in Engineering Management from Santa Clara University in 1986.
In recognition of her contributions to the technology and engineering sectors, she was awarded an honorary doctorate in engineering in 2025.
A Distinctive Legacy
Ullal’s rise underscores the growing global influence of Indian-origin executives beyond headline CEOs of consumer-facing tech giants. Her success reflects a combination of technical expertise, long-term strategic leadership and the increasing importance of cloud and data-centre infrastructure in the global digital economy.
