The impact proved fatal for the Bolero driver, identified as Firasat (54), a resident of Gujartola village under the Ganj police station limits. He died at the scene due to the severity of the collision.
Police said the Bolero belonged to the electricity department. Emergency services rushed to the spot and carried out rescue and clearance operations. Both the damaged truck and the Bolero were removed using cranes, and traffic was restored after the road was cleared. The body was sent to a hospital for post-mortem examination.
Superintendent of Police Vidya Sagar visited the accident site and reviewed the situation. Preliminary findings suggest that overloading and loss of control while negotiating a curve led to the accident. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, CCTV footage released by authorities shows the Bolero slowing down while taking a turn at the junction, moments before the heavily loaded truck approaches from the opposite direction. The truck is seen climbing the divider and toppling onto the Bolero, crushing it completely. The disturbing visuals of the vehicle being reduced to debris have drawn widespread attention online.
