Videos featuring animals often go viral on social media, sometimes for their sheer surprise and at other times for their emotional impact. One such clip, capturing a dramatic encounter between two of the jungle’s most powerful animals — a tiger and a rhinoceros — is currently drawing widespread attention from wildlife enthusiasts and the general public alike.
The video opens in a forested landscape, showing a female rhinoceros walking cautiously with her calf close behind. Before stepping onto a road, the mother rhino pauses and scans her surroundings, seemingly alert to any potential danger. Satisfied that the path is clear, she begins to cross the road with her young one. A tiger tries to predate a young calf of rhino but fails. The cautious mother reacts and shields the calf.

Moments later, a tiger emerges from nearby cover and attempts to pursue the calf. However, before the predator can make its move, the vigilant mother reacts swiftly, charging towards the tiger and forcing it to retreat. She then turns back, regathers her calf and leads it safely away along the same path they had taken earlier.
The remarkable sequence, described as a powerful display of both predatory instinct and maternal courage, was captured on camera and shared by IFS officer Ramesh Pandey on X (formerly Twitter). “A tiger attempts to prey on a rhino calf but fails. An alert mother responds instantly and rescues her young. A stunning moment of nature captured in Dudhwa — truly a must-watch,” Pandey wrote in the caption.
The one-minute-long video has since garnered over 67,000 views, along with hundreds of likes and comments. Viewers expressed awe at the rare sight, with one user calling it “a remarkable moment from natural history,” while another remarked on the privilege of witnessing such an encounter, imagining how safari visitors would envy the moment.
The clip stands as a vivid reminder of the raw, unpredictable drama of the wild, where survival depends not only on strength but also on instinct, vigilance and the powerful bond between a mother and her young.
