Faridabad (Haryana): A 25-year-old woman was allegedly abducted after being offered a lift and gang-raped in a van in Faridabad, police said.
The shocking incident took place around midnight on Monday, December 29. Two accused have been arrested, and the vehicle used in the crime has been seized.
According to the police, the woman, who lives with her husband and mother, had left home following a dispute with her mother and gone to a friend’s house. While returning late at night, she was unable to find transport near Metro Chowk and accepted a lift from a van passing through the area.
The two men inside the vehicle allegedly drove her to an isolated forest stretch along the Gurugram Road, where they subjected her to sexual assault.
Police said the assault continued for nearly three hours amid dense fog. During the ordeal, the woman suffered serious head injuries and required around a dozen stitches. At approximately 3 am, the accused reportedly pushed her out of the van near Raja Chowk in the SGM Nagar area before fleeing.
The survivor contacted her sister and was later admitted to a private hospital in Faridabad, where she is currently undergoing treatment.
A complaint was registered at the Kotwali police station on December 30. Faridabad Police PRO Yashpal Singh said the accused were arrested following a swift investigation by the crime branch. Both suspects are residents of Faridabad.
Officials said further interrogation is underway and legal proceedings are in progress.
