Police have arrested the accused, identified as Krishna Jaiswal (31), a resident originally from Sonbhadra district in Uttar Pradesh. The family had recently moved to Faridabad.
Attempt to Pass Off Death as an Accident
According to police, the incident took place on Wednesday. Investigators say Jaiswal became enraged when the child was unable to write numbers from 1 to 50 and subjected her to severe physical assault. The child reportedly lost consciousness due to the beating.
In an apparent attempt to cover up the crime, the accused took the girl to a hospital and claimed that she had fallen from a staircase while playing. However, doctors confirmed that the child had already died before being brought to the hospital. Jaiswal later repeated the same version of events to his wife, Ranjita, when she returned home from work.
Elder Brother’s Statement Breaks the Case
Suspicion arose when the mother noticed multiple injury marks on the child’s body, prompting her to inform the police. A crucial breakthrough came when the couple’s seven-year-old son, who was present at home at the time, told authorities that their father had brutally beaten his younger sister.
Police spokesperson Yashpal said preliminary findings indicate that the child died due to severe head injuries sustained during the assault.
Father in Police Custody
A case has been registered against Krishna Jaiswal under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to murder. The accused works night shifts at a private company and reportedly stayed home during the day to look after the children.
Police officials said the girl was not enrolled in any school and was being taught at home by her father. The accused has been taken into police custody for further interrogation as investigators continue to collect evidence and record statements.
