Storm Ingrid to hit Ireland within 48 hours!
The Met Office forecast indicates that the storm could weaken significantly by the time it reaches Ireland, but will still be accompanied by strong winds and the risk of flooding.
"Strong winds are expected to batter the Irish coast with Storm Ingrid hitting France today, and forecasts even suggest there is a chance of snow next week."
"This storm, named by the Portuguese Meteorological Society, is not expected to cause any significant impacts other than further heavy rainfall across Ireland. This is certainly significant given the rainfall seen over the past two days, with the remnants of Storm Ingrid likely to be felt most in the south and south-east of the country."
Heavy rain and strong winds are possible in coastal areas. Saturday is another mixed day. That low pressure will weaken and settle over the center of the country, causing a lot of heavy rain or flooding.
The weather forecast is mixed - low pressure conditions will move in from the west again early and mid next week. Low pressure continues to dominate, making for humid and often windy conditions, with only limited sunshine. The jet stream is located to the north or south, and there is a possibility of some winter hazards on the northern sides of these systems, depending on where exactly the low pressure areas are moving.
* The report suggests that parts of Ulster could see snow until Monday night, meaning possibly until Tuesday night. The cold front is very close, so it won't be long before those winter hazards become more widespread, and it's not something to be overly concerned about at the moment.
The weather will be mostly cloudy with rain and drizzle. Minimum temperatures between 3 and 6 degrees, moderate to fresh, sometimes strong, with easterly winds becoming gale force throughout the night.
* Ulster : Londonderry (Derry), Antrim, Down, Tyrone, Armagh, Fermanagh, Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal.
* Munster : Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Waterford
* Connacht : Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Roscommon, Sligo
