The incident reportedly occurred on January 14 between 9 am and 2.45 pm in Match Factory Lane, Kurla West. According to the complaint, the student was intercepted by two men who allegedly grabbed him, threatened him with physical assault, and forcibly snatched his valuables before fleeing the spot.
Police said the stolen items included a 35-gram silver chain valued at ₹9,800, a six-gram silver bracelet worth ₹1,600, a gold ear stud weighing approximately one gram valued at ₹14,000, and a branded wristwatch worth ₹1,000. The total value of the stolen property was estimated at ₹26,400.
Following the complaint, the Kurla police registered a case of robbery under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and launched an investigation. As part of the probe, officers analysed local intelligence, technical leads, and CCTV footage from the surrounding area.
Based on the findings, the police arrested Aditya Sachin Sathe (23) and Shahnawaz Kausar Shaikh (19) on January 19 with the assistance of the detection team. The stolen jewellery and wristwatch have been recovered, police said, adding that preliminary verification revealed no prior criminal records against either of the accused.
Officials noted that the registration of the case was delayed due to the complainant approaching the police at a later stage. Investigators are continuing efforts to reconstruct the sequence of events and ascertain whether the accused were involved in similar offences. Further investigation is ongoing.
