Pala: A two-day national seminar organised by the Postgraduate and Research Department of English at St Thomas College, Pala, commenced on the college campus on Monday.
The seminar focuses on Disability Studies, bringing together scholars and academicians from across the country.
The inaugural session was held under the chairmanship of the college manager, Monsignor Rev. Dr Joseph Thadathil. The seminar was formally inaugurated by Pala Municipal Chairperson Thea Binu Pulikkakandam.
Professor Dr Someshwar Sati, recipient of the President of India’s Sarva Shreshtha Divyangjan Award 2022, delivered the keynote address, highlighting contemporary perspectives and challenges in disability studies.
College Principal Prof. Dr Sibi James welcomed the gathering, while Vice Principal Rev. Dr Salvin K. Thomas offered felicitation. The Head of the Department of English, Dr Joby Mathew, proposed the vote of thanks.
The seminar is expected to provide an important academic platform for discussions on inclusivity, representation and interdisciplinary approaches within the field of disability studies.
