Chikkaballapur: Police in Karnataka’s Chikkaballapur district have arrested a 29-year-old man for allegedly abducting and sexually assaulting a college student after offering her a lift. The accused has been identified as Ganesh.
Incident Details
According to the police, the victim, a student of a private college, was waiting for a bus after classes when the accused approached her on a motorcycle and offered to drop her home. Trusting him, she accepted the offer. However, the accused allegedly diverted the vehicle to a secluded location en route.
When the student questioned his actions, the accused is said to have assaulted her with a beer bottle, rendering her unconscious. He allegedly sexually assaulted her and fled the scene, leaving her behind.
After regaining consciousness, the student informed her friends, who alerted the authorities. Police reached the spot promptly and shifted the victim to a hospital for medical treatment.
Arrest and Legal Action
Following the incident, the accused went into hiding. Police traced and arrested him after a search operation. He has since been produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody.
