Hyderabad Techie Murders Ex-Wife Over Thwarted Canada Plans; Arrested After Dramatic Standoff

HYDERABAD – In a disturbing case of calculated revenge, a 29-year-old IT professional was brutally murdered in her residence by her ex-husband,

a former Canada-based software engineer. The perpetrator, who blamed the victim for his professional downfall and personal tragedies, was apprehended by Hyderabad police following a tense, high-stakes standoff.

A Months-Long Conspiracy

Investigations reveal that the suspect, in his 30s, had been meticulously planning the assault for months. After tracking the victim’s current address through her social media activity, he moved to Hyderabad two months ago, residing in a local hostel to conduct surveillance on her apartment complex.

The motive reportedly stems from a domestic violence case the victim filed against him during their marriage, which lasted from 2022 until their divorce in 2024. The legal proceedings resulted in a Look Out Circular and the revocation of his passport, preventing him from returning to his job in Canada. The suspect also allegedly harbored a delusion that the mental stress caused by the legal battle led to his mother’s death in March 2025.

The Assault

On Wednesday, the suspect arrived at the victim's apartment armed with a backpack containing two knives, a drilling machine, and a five-liter canister of gasoline.

According to police reports, he forced his way into the home while the victim's mother-in-law was on the balcony. He cornered the victim in a room, locked the door from the inside, and repeatedly stabbed her in the head. She succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

Unconfirmed Reports: The victim’s second husband, whom she married in April 2025, alleged in his statement that she was three months pregnant at the time of her death. Police officials stated they are awaiting the post-mortem report to verify this claim.

Police Intervention and Arrest

Upon receiving an emergency call from the family, police arrived to find a volatile situation. The suspect had doused the room in petrol and barricaded himself inside the bathroom, threatening to self-immolate and set the apartment ablaze.

Following a period of intense negotiation and a tactical maneuver, officers managed to neutralize the threat and take the suspect into custody. CCTV footage aired by local news outlets shows the suspect calmly walking through the apartment corridors with a backpack shortly before the incident.

The suspect is currently in police custody as the investigation continues under charges of premeditated murder and trespassing.
