Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded a significant two-day official visit to Israel at the invitation of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, marking another important chapter in the deepening strategic partnership between the two nations.
On the second day of his visit, Prime Minister Modi paid homage at Yad Vashem in Jerusalem, Israel’s official memorial to the six million Jews murdered during the Holocaust. Established in 1953, the memorial stands as a solemn reminder of one of history’s darkest chapters. The visit underscored India’s respect for historical memory and its solidarity with the people of Israel.
Following this, Prime Minister Modi held bilateral discussions with Israeli President Isaac Herzog, focusing on strengthening cooperation across key sectors. Delegation-level talks were later held between Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Netanyahu, culminating in the exchange of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and a joint press statement outlining expanded collaboration in areas such as defence, technology, agriculture, and security.
Addressing the media, Prime Minister Modi delivered a firm message on counterterrorism: “India and Israel are completely clear that there is no place for terrorism in the world. In any form or manifestation, terrorism cannot be accepted. We have stood shoulder-to-shoulder in opposing terrorism and its supporters, and we will continue to do so.” His remarks reinforced the shared strategic outlook of both nations in confronting global security challenges.
In a lighter moment during the joint statement, Prime Minister Netanyahu recalled a personal connection to India. He shared that one of his earliest dates with his wife, Sara Netanyahu, took place at the renowned Indian restaurant Reena Pushkarna in Tel Aviv, fondly describing it as a memorable introduction to Indian cuisine and culture.
As the visit concluded, Prime Minister Netanyahu and his wife Sara Netanyahu personally saw Prime Minister Modi off at Tel Aviv airport, reflecting the warmth and strength of bilateral ties. The visit is widely viewed as a reaffirmation of the robust and evolving India–Israel partnership, anchored in shared values, strategic cooperation, and a common resolve against terrorism.
