Pune: Jay Pawar, son of former Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, has levelled serious allegations against VSR Ventures, the company that operated the aircraft involved in the fatal crash that claimed his father’s life.
Jay Pawar shared a video on social media purportedly showing Rohit Singh, owner of VSR Ventures, seated in the chief pilot’s seat and allegedly asleep while the aircraft was in flight. In an emotional appeal posted on Instagram, he demanded the immediate arrest of Rohit Singh and the suspension of all services operated by VSR Ventures.
“It is unacceptable that the owner of the company was seated in the pilot’s position and asleep while the aircraft was airborne,” Jay Pawar stated. He further insisted that all operations of VSR Ventures be halted until the investigation into the crash that led to his father’s death is completed. Describing his demand as a “son’s painful plea,” he called for accountability and transparency in the probe.
The tragic incident occurred on January 28 at Baramati, when a Learjet 45 carrying Ajit Pawar and four others crashed. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) recently released its preliminary findings into the accident.
Jay Pawar has expressed dissatisfaction with the initial report, calling it incomplete and urging authorities to disclose comprehensive and transparent details regarding the circumstances leading to the crash. He further demanded that if any irregularities are identified in the company’s operations, a blanket ban should be imposed on all aircraft operated by VSR Ventures.
According to the AAIB’s preliminary findings, visibility was reportedly poor at the time of the accident. The runway markings at Baramati airport were said to be faded, and metal debris was found scattered on the runway. These factors have been cited as part of the initial assessment of the crash.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have yet to issue a final report determining the precise cause of the accident.
