In a significant breakthrough for cyber-crime enforcement, the Delhi Police have arrested a 47-year-old unemployed man suspected of orchestrating one of the most extensive hoax bomb threat campaigns in India’s history.

The accused is alleged to have dispatched over 1,000 fraudulent emails to various institutions nationwide, sparking widespread panic and necessitating repeated, high-stakes emergency responses.
A Pattern of Disruption
The campaign, which spanned several months, primarily targeted high-occupancy public spaces, including:
- Educational Institutions: Multiple schools faced sudden evacuations and closures.
- Judiciary: Court proceedings were frequently halted for security sweeps.
- Public Offices: Government and commercial operations suffered significant downtime.
While every threat was ultimately proven a hoax, protocol dictated that security agencies treat each communiqué as a credible risk. This led to the consistent deployment of bomb disposal squads, K-9 units, and intensive manual searches, placing an unprecedented strain on municipal resources and law enforcement personnel.
