Three men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder as part of an ongoing investigation into a brutal assault in Dublin, where a woman was doused with petrol and set alight outside her home last year.
The victim, 44-year-old Alexis Lee Campion, sustained severe injuries in the November attack after answering her front door to an assailant who poured an accelerant over her and ignited it. She suffered extensive burns across much of her body and was admitted in critical condition to Tallaght Hospital.
In the aftermath of the incident, her family described her condition as critical and revealed that she was not the intended target of the attack. They noted that she had previously associated with individuals linked to criminal activity but had been attempting to rebuild her life prior to the incident.
On Tuesday morning, a large-scale policing operation was carried out involving more than 100 personnel from multiple units, including the Serious Crime South division, the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Armed Support Units, and the Garda Dog Unit. Searches were conducted across 19 properties in the Clondalkin and Ballyfermot areas.
The three suspects—two men in their 30s and one teenage male—are currently being detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007 at Garda stations in Dublin.
A Garda spokesperson confirmed that the searches remain ongoing and that the investigation continues under the direction of the Serious Crime Unit South, operating from an incident room at Clondalkin Garda Station. The operation is being conducted as part of Operation Fógra, which is aimed at tackling drug-related intimidation and disrupting the sale and distribution of controlled substances.
Authorities have indicated that further developments are expected as the investigation progresses.
