Ireland: A man remains in serious condition in hospital following a violent assault in Naas, County Kildare, during the early hours of Sunday.
According to Garda Síochána, the incident occurred shortly after 2:45 a.m. on North Main Street. Emergency services were alerted to the scene, where an adult male in his 30s was found with serious injuries.
The victim was transported to Beaumont Hospital for urgent medical treatment, where he continues to receive care. Authorities have preserved the scene to allow for a detailed technical examination as part of the ongoing investigation.
An adult male in his 20s was arrested in connection with public order offences shortly after the incident. However, he has since been released pending further inquiries.
Investigators are appealing to members of the public who may have witnessed the assault to come forward. Gardaí are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who was in the North Main Street area of Naas between 2:20 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2026.
Officials have also requested that individuals who may possess video footage from the area — including dash-cam recordings — make it available to investigating officers.
