Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said that festivals symbolising joy and enthusiasm can be celebrated in their true spirit only in an atmosphere of peace, security and mutual trust.
Launching the traditional Holi celebrations at the Gorakhnath Temple, the chief minister described Holi as a festival that embodies social harmony, collective joy and renewed enthusiasm.
“Festivals of happiness and celebration assume their true form only when there is peace, a sense of security and confidence in society. Uttar Pradesh and the entire country are moving forward today with this spirit of assurance,” he told mediapersons at the temple premises.
‘Legacy of Harmony Preserved for Thousands of Years’
Adityanath said India’s rich civilisational heritage and the values of its ancestors had preserved the tradition of Holi for thousands of years, passing it down through generations in the spirit of unity and harmony. He noted that the present generation was carrying forward that legacy with equal commitment and zeal.
The chief minister observed that people from all sections of society were participating in the festival with enthusiasm, using the occasion to bridge differences and strengthen social cohesion.
He added that all Holika Dahan programmes across the state were conducted peacefully.
“Holika Dahan events were organised at more than 1.61 lakh locations across Uttar Pradesh in a peaceful and enthusiastic manner,” he said.
Spiritual Significance of Holika Dahan
Describing Holika Dahan as an occasion to recall Lord Vishnu’s Narasimha avatar, Adityanath said divine incarnations serve as reminders for society to curb disorder, protect righteousness and defeat negative forces.
Referring to figures from Indian mythology, he said that if individuals discharge their duties with sincerity and devotion—like Prahlad, Shabari or Arjuna—positive forces in society would be strengthened while negative tendencies would naturally decline.
‘New India’ Moving on Path of Heritage and Development
The chief minister also emphasised that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a “New India” was emerging and progressing rapidly towards becoming a developed nation.
“India today is firmly advancing on the path of heritage and development under the Prime Minister’s leadership. In the Amrit Kaal of Independence, we are fortunate to have such visionary guidance,” he said.
Adityanath extended his greetings and best wishes to the people of the state on the occasion of Holi and expressed hope that future generations would continue to celebrate the festival of harmony with the same enthusiasm in the years ahead.
He later participated in the ‘Bhagwan Narsinghji ki Shobha Yatra’ and joined the Holi festivities.
