Two Sexual Assault Cases Reported in Bihar, Police Launch Investigations

Bihar: Two separate incidents of sexual assault have been reported from the eastern Indian state of Bihar, triggering public concern and prompting swift police action in both cases.

Minor Assaulted in Nalanda District

In the first case, a 15-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped in a village under the jurisdiction of the Vena police station in Nalanda district. The incident, which came to light on Sunday, has caused widespread outrage in the area.

According to local accounts, the minor had gone outside her village to purchase food when she was intercepted by four individuals on her way back. The accused allegedly took her to a secluded area near a farm structure, where the assault took place.

The victim later returned home and informed her family, who subsequently approached the police. Acting on the complaint, law enforcement officials reached the spot and registered a First Information Report (FIR) based on the victim’s statement.

Sadar DSP-2 Sanjay Kumar Jaiswal confirmed that an investigation is underway. A forensic team has been deployed to examine the crime scene, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the accused.

According to the complaint, the accused—identified as Manish Kumar, a distant relative of the victim—allegedly lured her on March 17 to Hisua and forcibly took her by train to Gaya. There, he reportedly confined her in a friend’s room, threatened her, and sexually assaulted her after promising marriage.

The victim further alleged that she was assaulted again the following day at another location before being abandoned outside her village. She informed her family, who initially attempted to resolve the matter with the accused. However, he allegedly refused to marry her and issued threats.

Subsequently, the victim approached the women’s police station along with her family. An FIR was registered on March 21, and the accused was arrested following a late-night police raid at his residence.

Under the supervision of Women Police Station in-charge Reena Kumari, the victim underwent a medical examination at the Sadar Hospital. She has since been produced before a magistrate for the recording of her statement, while police have initiated procedures to remand the accused to judicial custody.

Ongoing Investigations

Authorities in both districts have assured that investigations are being conducted with priority, and necessary legal action will be taken against those found responsible.
