PM Modi Highlights West Asia Crisis, Urges Unity and Caution Against Misinformation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday described the ongoing conflict in West Asia as a “serious situation” that has impacted multiple countries over the past month, while emphasizing the importance of unity and responsible communication during the crisis.

Speaking during the 132nd episode of his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude to Gulf nations for their continued support to the large Indian diaspora in the region. He noted that nearly 10 million Indians reside across Gulf countries, and acknowledged the assistance extended to them amid the ongoing tensions.

“At present, a severe conflict has been ongoing for the past month. I am deeply grateful to the Gulf countries for providing all necessary support and facilities to nearly 10 million Indians living there,” he said.

India has consistently voiced concern over the safety and well-being of its citizens in the region, given the escalating hostilities.

Call for Unity and Responsible Discourse

The Prime Minister urged citizens to remain united and avoid falling prey to misinformation during this sensitive period. He cautioned against the spread of rumours and politicisation of the situation, stating that such actions could be detrimental to national interests.

He appealed to the public to rely only on official information and to maintain calm, stressing that collective responsibility is crucial in navigating the crisis.

Ongoing Conflict and Global Impact

The conflict, which began on February 28 following military strikes by the United States and Israel under Operation Epic Fury, has intensified over the past month. In response, Iran reportedly closed the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, triggering concerns over global oil supply disruptions and economic instability.

Focus on Health and Lifestyle

In addition to addressing geopolitical concerns, Prime Minister Modi also reiterated his focus on public health. With less than 100 days remaining for the International Day of Yoga, he encouraged citizens to adopt healthier lifestyles.

Referring to a recent social media interaction, he highlighted the importance of reducing sugar consumption and reiterated his earlier advice to cut cooking oil usage by 10 percent. He noted that such small but consistent efforts can help prevent obesity and lifestyle-related diseases.

The Prime Minister’s address combined both global concerns and personal well-being, underscoring the need for resilience, awareness, and discipline in challenging times.
