Ireland News: A woman in her 40s is receiving hospital treatment following a serious road traffic collision in County Westmeath on Sunday afternoon.
Emergency services, including Garda Síochána, responded to reports of a two-vehicle collision on the N62 at Ballinahown at approximately 1:00 pm. The incident involved a car and a van.
The female driver of the van, aged in her 40s, was taken to the Midland Regional Hospital Mullingar, where she is being treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the car, a male in his late teens, was transported to the Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore with injuries also believed to be non-life-threatening. Three male passengers in the car, all aged in their 20s, were likewise taken to the same hospital for medical attention.
Authorities have secured the scene for examination by forensic collision investigators, and local traffic diversions remain in place.
Gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses to come forward. Road users who were in the area at the time, particularly those with dash-cam or other video footage, are urged to assist the investigation by providing any relevant material.
