An IAF Sukhoi Su-30 aircraft has gone missing from radar. Officials said efforts are ongoing to locate it.


The plane, which took off from Jorhat in Assam, was last contacted at 7.42 pm, a post on Indian Air Force X (formerly Twitter) said.

A search and rescue mission has begun.
Awaiting more information. The Su-30 MKI, a highly customized version of the aircraft developed by Russia in the 1980s, is the backbone of the Indian Air Force. 

The Russian-made Su-30 aircraft were first delivered in 1997. They are currently manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. The IAF currently has over 250 aircraft. Multiple squadrons of the SU-30 MKI are deployed in the Northeast.
