New Delhi: Commercial LPG cylinder prices have been sharply increased from April 1, adding to the financial strain on businesses already grappling with supply disruptions linked to the ongoing West Asia conflict. The hike is expected to significantly impact restaurants, hotels, and small enterprises that rely heavily on commercial gas supplies.
According to sources cited by ANI, the price of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder has risen by ₹195.50 in Delhi and ₹218 in Kolkata. The revised rates have come into immediate effect across the country.
Pressure on Hospitality and Small Businesses
The increase is likely to be particularly burdensome for the hospitality sector, including eateries and catering services, which depend extensively on commercial LPG cylinders for daily operations. With input costs rising, businesses may be forced to pass on the burden to consumers or absorb reduced profit margins.

Impact of West Asia Conflict
The price hike comes amid continued volatility in global energy markets, driven by the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel. Disruptions to supply chains and concerns over oil transit routes have pushed global crude prices sharply higher, with estimates indicating a surge of nearly 50 per cent since late February.
The ripple effects are now being felt in domestic fuel pricing, including LPG, as energy costs remain closely tied to international benchmarks.
Last month, the government had already raised prices of 14.2 kg domestic cylinders by ₹60 and commercial cylinders by ₹144.50, indicating a sustained upward trend in fuel costs.
Monthly Price Revision Mechanism
LPG prices in India are revised on a monthly basis by state-run oil marketing companies, including Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum. These revisions are determined by global crude oil prices, currency exchange rates, and other market-linked factors.
As geopolitical tensions persist, industry stakeholders and consumers alike are expected to remain vulnerable to further price fluctuations in the coming months.
