A shocking murder case from Agra has come to light, with police revealing that the death of a young man four months ago was, in fact, a premeditated killing carried out by his wife and father-in-law.
The deceased, Yatendra Pal, had travelled to his in-laws’ residence on November 22, 2025, to celebrate his wife’s birthday. According to investigators, a late-night gathering involving alcohol took place. Unaware that the drinks had been laced with poison, Yatendra consumed the beverage and, within hours, his condition deteriorated rapidly. He was rushed to hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Initially, the cause of death remained unclear. A post-mortem examination failed to establish a definitive reason, leading authorities to preserve the internal organs for further analysis. For nearly four months, the case remained a mystery.
Suspicion, however, persisted within the family. Yatendra’s mother, Manju, raised concerns from the outset and, dissatisfied with the pace of the investigation, approached the court. Acting on judicial directions, police formally registered the case on January 5 and transferred the probe to the Kamla Nagar police.
The breakthrough came with the forensic analysis. A report from the forensic science laboratory confirmed poisoning due to sulphur compounds, fundamentally altering the course of the investigation.
Subsequently, police detained Yatendra’s wife, Tanu, and her father, Mahendra, for questioning. During interrogation, both allegedly confessed to the crime. Investigators revealed that tensions had long existed between the couple, with their relationship deteriorating significantly after marriage. Tanu had reportedly been living at her parental home following repeated disputes.
On the night of the incident, an argument is said to have escalated, prompting Mahendra to mix poison into the alcohol served to Yatendra. After consuming the contaminated drink, his health rapidly declined, leading to his death.
Following the confession and supporting forensic evidence, police arrested both accused and produced them before a court, which remanded them to judicial custody.
The case, which remained unresolved for months, has now been cracked, underscoring the critical role of forensic investigation in uncovering concealed crimes.
