Mumbai/Nashik — Maharashtra Chief Minister on Friday announced that the state government will seek the intervention of central agencies to investigate a serious case reported at a BPO facility operated by (TCS) in Nashik.
Describing the matter as “grave and deeply concerning,” Fadnavis said authorities are committed to pursuing the investigation to its logical conclusion. “We will not spare anyone involved. No one will be shielded. We have asked central agencies to probe the matter thoroughly,” he stated, adding that the case appears to involve elements of an organised network.
Allegations and Investigation
The case stems from allegations that several women employees at the TCS BPO office were subjected to exploitation and coercion linked to religious practices. Complaints claim that certain team leaders allegedly targeted economically vulnerable women and attempted to influence their personal choices through pressure and inducement. These allegations are currently under active investigation.
Police sources have confirmed that multiple cases have been registered, with at least nine FIRs filed so far. Seven individuals have been arrested in connection with the case, while the prime accused, identified as Nida Khan, is reportedly absconding and has approached a Nashik court seeking anticipatory bail.
Expanding Probe and Possible Links
Investigators are also examining potential international links, including the role of an individual based in Malaysia, in connection with suspected financial transactions. Authorities are probing whether any foreign funding channels may have supported the alleged activities.
The Nashik Police has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to handle the case, reflecting the seriousness of the allegations. As part of the probe, a resort in the region is also under scrutiny, where some complainants allege they were taken under coercive circumstances.
Corporate and Legal Developments
TCS has initiated internal disciplinary action, suspending employees named in the complaints and affirming its cooperation with law enforcement agencies. The Chief Minister acknowledged the company’s response, noting that “TCS has taken strong and timely action against those involved.”
The alleged incidents are reported to have occurred over an extended period between 2022 and 2026, raising concerns about workplace oversight and employee safety mechanisms.
