Two Found Dead in Uttar Pradesh’s Jalaun; Police Probe Suspected Love Affair Angle

Authorities in Uttar Pradesh are investigating the deaths of a man and a married woman whose bodies were found under suspicious circumstances in a field in Jalaun district, raising concern among local residents.

The incident occurred in the Kalpi area, where police were alerted on Sunday evening after the bodies were found in a field near Lohar village. A police team promptly reached the scene, secured the area, and initiated a detailed investigation.

Victims Identified, Haryana Link Emerges

According to reports, the deceased have been identified as Pramod (35) and Poonam (36), both residents of the Manesar region in Haryana. Investigators recovered a motorcycle bearing a Haryana registration number from the scene, which helped establish their identities.

Police have since contacted the families of the deceased, who indicated that the two had been in contact for some time, raising the possibility of a personal relationship between them.

Possible Relationship Under Scrutiny

Preliminary inquiries suggest that Pramod worked as a taxi driver and was known to visit Poonam’s residence frequently. He had reportedly developed a close association with her family, including her husband, Harishankar. Investigators believe that this familiarity may have evolved into a relationship, which is now a key focus of the probe.

Officials are examining whether any emotional distress, social pressure, or conflict arising from the alleged relationship may have contributed to the deaths.

Missing Person Case Adds New Dimension

In a significant development, police confirmed that Poonam’s husband had filed a missing person complaint on March 27 at a police station in Manesar. Her subsequent discovery in Jalaun has raised several questions, including how the two travelled to Uttar Pradesh and whether any third party was involved.

Suicide Suspected, Investigation Ongoing

At the scene, investigators reportedly recovered an empty container of sulphos (a toxic substance), suggesting the possibility of suicide by poisoning. However, authorities have cautioned that all angles are being examined, and no definitive conclusion has been reached.

Vinay Kumar Singh, Superintendent of Police, stated that initial findings point toward a relationship-related case, though confirmation awaits further evidence.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and officials emphasised that the exact cause of death will only be determined once the report is received.

Community in Shock

The incident has sparked widespread discussion and concern in the area, with residents reacting to the tragic circumstances surrounding the case. Police continue to question family members and gather evidence to reconstruct the sequence of events.

Authorities have reiterated that a clear picture will emerge only after the investigation is complete.
