The US military said it had struck missile launch sites and mine-laying vessels in southern Iran. The US has launched fresh strikes on an Iranian naval base in the Strait of Hormuz. Marco Rubio says the Strait of Hormuz must be reopened 'one way or another'.
"The targets included missile launch sites and Iranian boats attempting to lay mines," the military spokesman added. The US has launched fresh air strikes against Iran, claiming the strikes were "in self-defense." The U.S. military conducted self-defense strikes in southern Iran today to protect our troops from threats posed by Iranian forces, “targets included missile launch sites and Iranian boats attempting to lay mines,” Capt. Tim Hawkins of Central Command said in a statement.
The strikes came after U.S. President Donald Trump vowed on Twitter that Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium “will be either immediately transferred to the United States and brought back for destruction,” either in Iran or “at another acceptable location.”
Trump also called on countries such as Qatar, Pakistan, Egypt, Jordan and Turkey to sign peace treaties with Israel as part of efforts to end the Iran war. Trump said on Twitter earlier Monday that progress had been made on a draft deal with Iran but that he would only accept “a big deal for everybody or no deal.”
The U.S. has said it will either make a good deal with Iran or deal with the country in another way. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said. Rubio says US will give diplomacy every opportunity to succeed in Iran talks
