Mumbai: Actress Kangana Ranaut has described the nursing sector as the most sexualized profession. Kangana's controversial remarks came during the promotions of her new film 'Bharat Bhagya Vidhata'.
Meanwhile, strong protests have been raised in Kerala against the actress's statement by nursing organizations. Nurses' organizations organized a huge protest in Thrissur. "We are angels on earth, do not insult us," the protestors demanded.
Kangana says that nurses do not get the respect they deserve in society. “Rather than their living conditions, what needs to change is how people look at them. It is currently the most sexualized job. People dress up as nurses at Halloween parties and make jokes about them. Despite the heavy workload, they are not paid enough,” Kangana pointed out.
Kangana also strongly criticized the current dress code of nurses. The star argued that this uniform is a relic of the British era. Doctors can wear any clothes they want, just put a coat on top of it. But in extreme heat and cold, nurses are forced to wear this uniform. This gives them a foreign look, Kangana said.
The star also clarified about the costumes in her new film: "We have presented the nurse's uniform in the film with maximum sincerity. Because it is your responsibility. Personally, I feel that it is a British look influenced by the US Navy during World War I and World War II. The pin, the hat, and the belt are all evidence of that."
Kangana plays a brave nurse at Cama Hospital, which was attacked by terrorists during the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, in 'Bharat Bhagya Vidhata'. The remark has become a hot topic of discussion as the film is about to hit the theatres.
